MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a Certificate of Competency as an Elevator Inspector issued by the State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation and a Certified Inspectors license as specified in Chapter 399, Florida Statutes within 45 calendar days after date of hire. Four years of experience in the inspection of elevators to include two years of progressively responsible administrative and supervisory experience and one year of experience in the plans review and inspection of elevator and escalator installations are required. Must be able to climb ladders and stairways. Certificate and license must be in good standing with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation with no pending complaints. Applicants qualifying for employment will be subject to an extensive security screening, including but not limited to fingerprint check, employment verification and other such procedures as may be required. Security clearance is a continuing condition of employment.
RECRUITMENT NOTES:
The Elevator Section Supervisor oversees the Elevator Safety Contract Management Unit (OES/CMU), which is responsible for managing elevator maintenance and service contracts for more than 1,400 conveyance units across Miami-Dade County facilities. This position involves supervising a dedicated team, ensuring effective contract administration, and providing strategic oversight to ensure compliance with service level agreements and safety standards. The supervisor will coordinate with a wide range of stakeholders, including user departments, vendors, procurement teams, and regulatory bodies, to monitor and enforce contract compliance. Key duties include overseeing vendor performance, tracking service delivery metrics, and managing billing, contract renewals, and collection activities. Additionally, the role requires a strong focus on data management and reporting, including implementing system improvements within the Elevator Tracking System (ETS) to streamline operations. The Elevator Section Supervisor will also act as a liaison to facilitate communication and resolve any issues between vendors and departments, ensuring the smooth execution of maintenance schedules and safety inspections. Ultimately, this role is responsible for maintaining the operational reliability and safety of the County’s elevator systems while optimizing fiscal responsibility and ensuring service quality.
